18 businesses based in South Northants were shortlisted in 20 categories for last week’s countywide SME Business Awards, of which an impressive nine were recognised as winners or runners up.
Fortitude Financial Planning Ltd, based in Duncote just outside Towcester, walked away with the first ever South Northamptonshire Business of the Year title, an award sponsored by South Northamptonshire Council (SNC). While Bhangals Construction Consultants, based in Horton, won the Events and PR Employer of the Year award and were runners-up in the Comms Business of fewer than 50 employees’ category.
Mark White, director of Fortitude FP, said: “We pride ourselves on being an independent business dedicated to serving the local community and to win the inaugural South Northamptonshire Business of the Year Award means a lot to us.
“We've seen the business community grow and thrive over the last 15 years in South Northants and this makes it a great place to be.”
Councillor Stephen Clarke, SNC’s Portfolio Holder for Economic Growth and Regeneration, said: "We were thrilled to be involved with the SME Northamptonshire Business Awards, especially as we established the exclusive new category – South Northamptonshire Business of the Year.
"We are well aware of the calibre of our local businesses and this category highlighted the assets the district has to offer.
"Just last month at the Northamptonshire Business Awards, South Northamptonshire companies claimed over half of the awards, including the overall winner.
Our Economic Growth Team endeavours to support and grow the local economy to the benefit of our businesses and the wider community. We are proud of the achievements of our local employers and remain committed to promoting South Northamptonshire beyond the District."
