A national campaign which allows people to refill their reusable water bottles for free while out and about, is being supported by South Northamptonshire Council (SNC).

The SNC drinking fountain and refill station is in the reception at the council offices at The Forum in Moat Lane, Towcester. It can be accessed 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday and between 9am and 5pm on Saturdays.
The Refill campaign was launched in 2015 amid concerns over plastic pollution and aims to reduce the use of disposable bottles.
People on the go can find their nearest free water tap or fountain anywhere in the country using the Refill campaign mobile phone app which can be found via www.refill.org.uk.
Cllr Dermot Bambridge, SNC’s portfolio holder for Environmental Services, said: “We’re delighted to offer this service as we know from the success of our household recycling service that South Northants residents are passionate about the environment and are eager to do their bit.
“As well as at the Forum there are pubs, cafes and shops in the district already registered as Refill stations and I would urge other businesses to step-up to the challenge and sign-up.
“In South Northants we recycle all plastic bottles that are put out for recycling and they are a valuable resource which is reused to make other items. However, reducing waste is always the best bet for our environment and I encourage everyone to minimise their waste.”
