South Northants Council (SNC) in partnership with the Red Kite Network is organising a family Fun Day to encourage residents to get out and take advantage of this beautiful ancient parkland.
It’s the Easter school holiday so come along with the children and enjoy a range of fun activities aimed at promoting wellbeing, heritage and wildlife.
There will be lots to do including: pond dipping; a smoothie bike; arts and crafts; wildlife walks; sports and games; and a dig for treasure!
Councillor Karen Cooper portfolio holder for Wellbeing at SNC commented: “The Fun Day is all about celebrating the Watermeadows. We are very fortunate to have such a beautiful space for the community to use.
“The Council purchased the Watermeadows in 2009 with the intention of providing the growing population of Towcester with a much-needed community green space, and to improve the site’s rich ecology.“
Daisy Haywood, landscape architect and project manager at Red Kite Network, commented: “Over the past two years, we have been working with SNC to uncover the rich layers of heritage, wildlife and community value of the Watermeadows, and the Fun Day will celebrate that.
“We are now in the process of applying for external funding so that we can develop and implement a masterplan which will see the Watermeadows’ potential as Towcester’s community green space realised”.
The Watermeadows Fun Day offers a wonderful opportunity for all ages to enjoy some family time in the great outdoors.
The event will run from 11:00hrs to 15:00hrs.
It’s free for all so come along and help us celebrate!
