South Northants Council has today published its budget papers for consideration by Councillors at their annual budget setting meeting next week, Wednesday, 27 February.

The highlight of the budget is the proposal to commit just over £1million towards making long-overdue improvements to Towcester Centre for Leisure.
Councillor Karen Cooper, the South Northants Cabinet Member for Wellbeing commented: “I’m thrilled just weeks after the official opening of the new Brackley Pool and renovated leisure facilities there to bring the good news to users of Towcester Centre for Leisure – it’s your turn!
“More and more people are using our leisure centres, and I know that people who come from the town and the surrounding areas to Towcester will all really welcome the investment.”
Councillor Peter Rawlinson, the Cabinet Member for Finance and Governance added: “We have long run a prudent and responsible district council here in South Northants and made sure we look after the pennies and the pounds that our residents pay from their hard-earned wages in the small share we receive of their Council Tax.
“Our budget ensures that we can continue to deliver our excellent services to residents, complete our separation from Cherwell and play a full role in shaping the new Unitary Authority.
“It is because we’ve run such a tight ship that we can not only balance our budget with the proposals we’ll consider next week, but also be able to invest over £1million in something that will improve the lives of the thousands of people served by now not one but two top-class, modern leisure centres.”
