Way to wellbeing mapped out on website

Discovering new activities in South Northamptonshire just got easier, thanks to the council’s new Wellbeing Activity Map.

Gardening, fencing and singing are among the affordable activities featured on the online map, which has been developed by South Northamptonshire Council’s (SNC) community services team.

People can search for activities near where they live by entering their postcode on the website. Lots of the activities are free of charge and none cost more than £5 per session. They include opportunities for sports, arts, learning and socialising.

Cllr Karen Cooper, SNC’s portfolio holder for wellbeing, said: “No matter our age or walk of life, we can all benefit from making new friends, picking up a new skill or giving our fitness a boost.

“There are some wonderful opportunities to connect with people who share your interests out there, but before this excellent map was launched, there was no centralised way to search for activity sessions.

“As a council we’re really keen to help people explore their interests, make new friends and stay active, so we’re promoting our Wellbeing Map to anyone who is looking for something new to inspire them.”

The diverse range of groups on the map includes: Towcester Wildlife Trust Group, Touché Fencing Club, and Silverstone Gardening Club, Brackley Dippers Swimming Club and Brackley Male Voice Choir.

Those running local activities who would like to be featured on the map are invited to email: wellbeing.map@cherwellandsouthnorthants.gov.uk.
