Community groups invited to speak to grant givers

Anyone who wants to improve their community is being invited to meet organisations that might help fund their project during the third Funding Fair at Towcester Racecourse on Wednesday, 16 May 2018.

The free event between 9:30am and 3:00pm will be a chance to meet representatives from grant giving organisations and support agencies and learn best practice from successful community groups.

The event is hosted by South Northamptonshire Council (SNC), Daventry District Council (DDC), South Northants Volunteer Bureau (SNVB) and Daventry Volunteer Centre.

Cllr Peter Rawlinson, SNC’s portfolio holder for finance and procurement, said: “Localism changed the way local government is funded and put more control in the hands of communities.

“We can see this through the SNC New Homes Bonus Community Grants which has seen millions of pounds ploughed into South Northamptonshire for projects as diverse as support for high-achieving athletes to community centre refurbishments.

“So even if you don’t have a bright idea come along, meet us and other funders, you might find that more can be achieved than you thought possible.”

Grant giving organisations currently confirmed to attend, include: the Big Lottery Fund, Tesco Bags of Help, Legacy Funding, Historic Churches Support, Heritage Lottery Fund, Mid Counties Cooperative, and the Northamptonshire Community Foundation.

The fair will include presentations hosted by the main funders and there will also be presentations on how to successfully secure funding.

There is no entrance fee, ample parking, and the conference centre at Towcester Racecourse is fully accessible.

Those who wish to attend are encouraged to register via Eventbrite before the event to avoid delays on arrival and to secure a seat in any presentations they may wish to attend.
