Artists across South Northamptonshire and Cherwell are making the final touches to work they are about to submit to the 2018 Open Selected Exhibition.
Published: Thursday, 26th April 2018
The exhibition, which takes place at the Heseltine Gallery in Middleton Cheney between Saturday, 5 May and Sunday, 20 May forms part of Oxfordshire Artweeks and is a chance for artists of all levels to have their worked displayed.
The annual exhibition is organised by The Friends of the Heseltine Gallery in conjunction with Chenderit School and South Northamptonshire Council (SNC).
Cllr Karen Cooper, SNC’s portfolio holder for community engagement and wellbeing, said: “Our communities thrive partly due to the talent and culture present in the area.
“But it’s not easy for new artists to show and sell to the general public and we hope this exhibition will be the first step to more opportunities and confidence for many of the exhibitors.
"Many of the artists are professional already and they are always keen to take advantage of exhibiting in this excellent space.
“And for visitors to the exhibition it is a chance to discover work by artists whose connection to the area will give their creations extra meaning to those viewing and buying it. Many of the artists will be present at weekends to greet and talk to visitors.”
A panel will select outstanding wall mounted art and three dimensional work for awards to be presented by Lady Heseltine, including cash and a chance to display work at a follow-up exhibition, while visitors will be asked to vote for the People’s Choice prize of a photography session at Barrett and Coe.
Artists can submit work in any medium for the exhibition from Monday, 30 April accompanied by a submission form.
