With thousands of people set to move into the market towns over the next few years, SNC’s economic growth team has renewed its efforts to promote both town centres.
Cllr Stephen Clarke, SNC’s portfolio holder for economic development, regeneration and housing, said: “South Northamptonshire is one of the best places to live in the UK and our market towns are a showcase of all the features that make the district special.
“The traditional atmosphere and friendly slow pace of historic market towns, with a lifestyle much cherished in today’s fast paced world, makes it an attractive place to live and shop.
“As more and more people are attracted to our market towns, they will want to do their research and find out more about the facilities available. These websites will be a great place to start for anyone getting to know either town.”
The websites were produced by the retailers themselves, led by Neal Palk, chairman of Towcester Traders and Jan Dean, chairman of Brackley Means Business.
Ms Dean said: “We’re very encouraged by SNC’s support for the high street and hope the website grabs the attention of people new to the district, It also reminds existing residents of what their high street has to offer.”
Mr Palk said: “People have busy lives and shop where it is most convenient for them. I’ve lost count of the number of first time customers who say they were surprised at the variety of shops in Towcester.
“And it’s not just about selling things, it’s about offering a higher level of service, it’s about knowing your products and giving unbiased advice.
“If you don’t find what you want in the first shop you visit in Towcester, you are more than likely going to get a referral to another retailer who does have what you need.”
SNC also hosts the itslocal interactive map listing businesses and retailers throughout South Northamptonshire.
