We are carrying out public consultation on a proposed new supplementary planning document (SPD) for Parking.
We have an existing supplementary planning guidance (SPG) on Parking, although that document was adopted in 2003 and is now over 14 years old.
We are therefore looking to update our guidance and adopt a new SPD on parking, covering all the required amounts and standards of parking, as well as its aesthetic design.
The document, entitled ‘Parking: Standards and Design’, is proposed to be adopted by us as a supplementary planning document (SPD). Once formally adopted, it will supersede the previous SPG and become a material planning consideration for all development throughout South Northamptonshire.
This document will:
• Set new minimum parking requirements for all types of development (including car, bicycle, motorbike and HGV parking)
• Set out the preferred arrangements and layout of parking
• Give guidance on the design of garages and the use of different types of surfacing for parking areas
• Give guidance on the provision of charging point for electric vehicles
A paper copy of the Design Guide can be viewed at the following locations:
• Towcester Library
• Towcester Town Hall
• Brackley Library
• Brackley Town Hall
• Middleton Cheney Library
• Roade Library
• Deanshanger Library
What do you think of the document? We want to hear your views. Anyone and everyone is allowed to make representations on the draft Parking SPD.
