South Northamptonshire Council is providing a huge number of sports and fun activities for children and young people this summer as part of its Sports, Leisure and Arts (SPLAT) programme.
Are you a budding Olympic champion? Then the star-track athletics camp is for you. Included in the two day camp is a trip to Stantonbury Stadium in Milton Keynes. Or are you a potential England cricketer? In partnership with Northamptonshire Cricket, the Council are offering expert coaching sessions in Bugbrooke, Evenley and Syresham plus FREE entry to see the Northampton vs. Glamorgan match.
Other sports offered as part of Coaching Zone are badminton, basketball, table tennis and golf. All delivered by qualified coaches who will provide expert tips and lots of fun!
Young people aged 11 to 16 years who like a challenge, can have a go at a new sport at the ‘Come & Try It’ week at the Willison Centre, Roade School between Monday 11 August and Friday 15 August. The sports on offer are fencing, table tennis, cheerleading, badminton, basketball, trampolining/ gymnastics, golf and martial arts, and all are delivered by qualified coaches. Circus skills are also available for those who would like something different.
ActivityZone on the Road will visit 32 villages throughout South Northamptonshire. For children aged 5 to 10 years, ActivityZone on the Road is two hours of fun and games including parachute games, team games, fun relays and ball games. Cost is just £4 per child or £10 for three friends, and there is no need to book, just turn up and pay on the day.
Emma Ralls, Assistant Sports Development Officer, said, “We have a great SPLAT programme this summer packed with lots of activities for children to do. There are still places available but people need to book now as places are going fast!”
