The housing register
In March 2008, all council owned homes transferred to a new housing association called South Northants Homes (SNH).
Although we don't now own any social housing, we are still responsible for the housing register, which is the list that SNH and the other housing associations in the area use to find tenants for their properties. There are now 15 housing associations managing properties in South Northamptonshire and we can nominate people from the housing register for many of these housing association properties.
When we allocate properties to people on the register we try to give them to the people in most need, so people who are homeless or who have to move for medical reasons may be given preference.
