Food Waste Collections

To recycle your food you'll need and indoor and an outdoor caddy. If you don't have any of these get in touch and we will supply them free of charge.

Please put your food recycling out for collection by 7:00am every week on your normal collection day.

If you are unsure if your item should go in the food caddy or not, please check our Recycling A-Z - What goes where guide.

The caddies are also dishwasher proof, should you wish to wash them. If your caddy has been lost, stolen or damaged or you never had a caddy, please use these links to order a replacement.

Why recycle your food waste?

Food waste that is sent to landfill doesn't harmlessly breakdown. It has a big effect on the environment as it rots and releases methane - a harmful greenhouse gas that is 25 time more potent than carbon dioxide.

When recycled, your food waste is turned into something useful. Your food waste is taken to a special processing plant in Cassingston, Oxfordshire, where it is used to generate electricity to power homes and the local community. It also produces a fertiliser which can be used on local farms.

Food for thought

No amount too small. The best thing we can do with our food is enjoy it but some waste like banana skins, tea bags and plate scrapings are inevitable.

If you have any questions, please check our Recycling FAQs or contact us.
