We collect the rubbish for over 35,000 homes in the South Northamptonshire district.
The Council now runs the Twin Bin and Door-to-Door recycling schemes across almost the whole of the District.
They are collected on alternate weeks.
Flats and some other places are not included – if you live in a flat you have bins that everyone shares.
The bins are collected on the same day each week and you should leave them on the kerbside by 7:00am on the day of collections. If you have got real problems wheeling out the bin, then let us know and we can try and make special arrangements.
Download a copy of the leaflet about the recycling schemes (pdf). Find a list of tips about how to reduce flies and smells in the black bin (doc).

For details of when we are in your area and to find out which bin to put out when, go to the Collection Calendar page.
We do not collect bins on bank holiday Mondays. Householders affected by a Bank Holiday will have their bin collected on the Saturday before the break. If you have a collection on the Christmas and New Year days off, we will let you know when your bin will be collected.
If you sometimes have more domestic waste than will fit into your wheeled bin, please store some less offensive waste in a plastic sack until your bin has been emptied, then put it in you bin ready for the next collection. We will only take the contents of the wheeled bin with the lid shut and no extra bags.
Please also remember that the wheeled bins should not be used for:
Unless you live in a flat or somewhere difficult to access, you will have:
The green box is collected on the same week as the green bin and the black box with the black bin.

We can pick up clinical waste from homes free of charge every week.
Clinical waste includes needles, syringes, incontinence pads, stoma bags and dressings. This type of waste must not be put in the normal rubbish bins. If you produce clinical waste and need to use this service please contact us.
Please note that we do not offer a clinical waste collection service for businesses, including nursing or residential homes. Please look in the Yellow Pages for a suitably licenced waste management company.
Waste Strategy Review
The Northamptonshire Waste Partnership consulted the public on its Draft Municipal Waste Management Strategy last year.
What is the Northamptonshire Waste Management Strategy?
It is a plan to show how councils in Northamptonshire will manage the collection and treatment of municipal waste in the future – waste generated by households and some local businesses.
The strategy has been prepared by the Northamptonshire Waste Partnership, made up of Corby Borough Council, Daventry District Council, East Northamptonshire Council, Kettering Borough Council, Northampton Borough Council, Northamptonshire County Council, South Northamptonshire Council and the Borough Council of Wellingborough.
We are planning ahead for the collection and management of waste up to 2020 and beyond. The plans set out what we want to achieve and identify the types of services and technologies we will need to use to reach our goals.
