We want to be more than a fair weather friend to the district and have signed up to the Nottingham Declaration committing the Council to combating climate change.
The Nottingham Declaration on climate change was created in 2000 as a way for councils to show their commitment to reducing energy consumption and promoting ways to prevent climate change. Every council in Northamptonshire has signed up and has promised to work towards better energy efficiency, protection of the environment and helping to get the message out to residents.
We have a number of projects helping residents improve the efficiency of their homes and save money by reducing the amount of energy they use. Schemes offering grants and discounts towards the cost of insulating and heating properties are available along with free impartial advice.
For more information go to our Energy efficiency page.
We are doing our bit too with the installation of a wind turbine and solar panels at our Springfields offices in Towcester.
We will look closely at reducing emissions through better energy sourcing and use, travel and transport issues, waste production and disposal, and the buying of climate-friendly goods and services.
