The Chairman of the Council for 2008/9 is Councillor Rebecca Breese
The Chairman presides over meetings of the full Council, ensuring that the Council acts in the best interests of all residents and businesses in the District. Elected by the whole of the Council at its Annual Meeting in May, the Chairman serves for one municipal year.
The Chairman acts as civic figurehead and ambassador for the Council and the District of South Northamptonshire.
Councillor Rebecca Breese was born and brought up in New Zealand and has lived in South Northamptonshire for 14 years with her husband and three sons. Councillor Breese was first elected to South Northamptonshire Council in 2003 and served as Vice Chairman in 2007. She is very proud to have been elected as Chairman of the Council and is very much looking forward to representing both the community and the Council amongst a wider audience.
Each year a variety of fundraising events are held with proceeds being donated to the charities chosen by the Chairman. During her year of office, Councillor Breese has chosen Macmillan Cancer Support.
