Dog control orders

The Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005 is new legislation that replaces the current Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996 and dog byelaws with a new system of 'Dog Control' Orders.

Dog mess

Letting your dog foul the pavements and parks is not very nice for other people that use them – and at worst can cause blindness from an infection called ‘Toxocariosis’.

Found and stray dogs

We have a duty to deal with stray dogs that are becoming a nuisance or a danger on the road.

Lost dogs It is important to notify the local authority if your dog is lost.
Noisy dogs It's normal and natural for dogs to bark. But when barking happens a lot, or goes on for a long time, it can be annoying and upsetting for neighbours.
Dog training Dogs need to be exercised daily and walks are much more fun if your dog behaves on the lead and comes back whenever it is called.
Your dog and the law

As a responsible dog owner, it is important for you to meet with the requirements of the law.
