Guidance

Relief from Non-Domestic Rates may be awarded at South Northamptonshire Council’s discretion to Charities, trustees for a charity and non-profit making organisations where:

(a) All or part of the property is occupied by one or more organisations which are not established for profit and whose main purposes are charitable or are otherwise philanthropic, religious, concerned with education, social welfare, science, literature or the fine arts.

(b) The property is wholly or mainly used for the purposes of recreation and is occupied by a club, society or other organisation not established or conducted for profit.

Discretionary Relief may only be awarded for hereditaments with a rateable value up to £16500.00.

Amount of Relief

Under the discretionary rate relief scheme we can reduce your bill by up to 100%.

If you already receive 80% mandatory rate relief we will only consider your claim for discretionary rate relief for the remaining 20% of your bill.
