Public Transport and bus passes

We all know that using public transport is better for the environment and can work out cheaper than owning and maintaining a car.

Public Transport

Visit Northamptonshire County Council's website for lots of information on public transport in the county including bus and train timetables, and general advice and information about public transport.

Bus passes

Concessionary Travel

The scheme offers free off-peak travel on local buses in England to residents of South Northants.  Qualification will depend on age or disability.  The age criteria for both men and women will change from 6 April 2010.  This will rise from 60 to 65 over a ten year period.  To find out how this change affects you please visit www.direct.gov.uk/buspass or our Frequently Asked Questions  or Ready Reckoner

You can download an Application form (.pdf) for completion and bring it, together with your evidence, to our offices in Towcester or Brackley.  We can take your photo, enter your details on the database, and your pass will be posted to you within 5 – 7 working days.  Alternatively you can post the completed form with your evidence and photo to our offices.

If you are applying for a pass on disability grounds and need a letter from your Doctor, a template is available if you click on Doctors letter or contact us for a copy on 01327 302352.
