Veterans from Royal British Legion branches in Greens Norton and Towcester stood shoulder to shoulder with elected members and senior managers from South Northamptonshire Council (SNC) to mark the start of Armed Forces Week.

On Monday, 19 June they gathered outside the council’s offices at The Forum in Towcester to witness an Armed Forces Week flag being raised above the building.

SNC chairman, Cllr Fiona Baker said: “In 2013 all the local authorities in Northamptonshire signed the Armed Forces Community Covenant (AFCC).

“In some ways it is just a symbolic affirmation of the commitment the nation makes to those who are willing to put their lives on the line for us.

“But it is also a way of reminding serving personnel and veterans that they are not alone and help is out there if they need it.”
