Community safety officers out and about to hear your concerns

Following the success of the drop-in surgeries in Towcester, community safety officers are going out and about in South Northamptonshire.

Last year South Northamptonshire  Council (SNC) community safety officers and Northamptonshire Police teamed up to hold drop-in sessions at The Forum in Towcester for anyone who wanted to share concerns about their community.

New drop-in sessions have now been established in Brackley, with more venues on the way.
Community safety officers are also stepping out on patrol and will be visiting each community in the district.

Councillor Karen Cooper, SNCís portfolio holder for community engagement and wellbeing said: ďThe sessions at The Forum show that people value the human touch. Often they donít think their concerns are important enough, or will be overlooked.

ďBut having the chance to speak to someone informally, and in person, often draws out concerns, or useful information they may not have thought were important.

ďSNCís Community Safety Officer Gary Crook has previously served as a Special Constable, and as local person himself he is passionate about making this district an enjoyable and safe place to live. Even if you donít have any concerns I would urge people who see him out and about to go over and say hello.Ē

Drop in sessions are scheduled to take place between 10am and midday at Brackley Library in Manor Road on Wednesday, 21 June, Wednesday, 26 July, Wednesday, 30 August, and Wednesday, 27 September.

Sessions are currently scheduled to take place at The Forum between 3pm and 5pm Friday, 16 June, 10am and midday Monday, 17 July, and 3pm and 5pm Monday, 14 August. For further dates visit our Community Safety page

If you would like to meet the Neighbourhood Inspector for Daventry and South Northants, Inspector Kevin Byrne will be holding the first of his monthly Open Door Surgeries at Towcester Library between 1pm and 3pm on Thursday, 22 June, and between 10am to midday on Wednesday, 23 August, no appointment necessary.

SNC works with Northants Police under the Daventry District and South Northants Community Safety Partnership which also includes Daventry District Council, the Police Crime Commissioner, the fire service, Northants County Council, local NHS, the BeNCH rehabilitation company, housing associations and victim support.
