Community groups invited to speak to grant givers

Community and voluntary groups which are struggling to get off the ground, or those looking to expand what they do, are being encouraged to attend the second Funding Fair at Towcester Racecourse on Tuesday, 6 June.

The free event between 9.30am and 3pm will be a chance to meet representatives from more than 20 grant giving organisations and learn best practice from successful community groups.

The event is hosted by South Northamptonshire Council (SNC), Daventry District Council (DDC), South Northants Volunteer Bureau (SNVB) and Daventry Volunteer Centre.

Paul Sutton, SNC’s chief finance officer said: “Over the last decade it has been clear in both the private and public sectors that you must achieve more with fewer resources.

“So it would be easy for those in the third sector to assume there’s no money for their bright ideas.

“This funding fair shows that assumption is not true, and if you have the right idea, one that will benefit your community, there is help out there.”

SNC and DDC have their own community grant schemes and grant giving organisations currently confirmed to attend are:  the Big Lottery Fund, BBC Children in Need, Heritage Lottery Fund, Grantscape, the London Marathon Charitable Trust, Northamptonshire Groundwork, Historic Churches Support, and the Northamptonshire Community Foundation.

The fair will include presentations hosted by the main funders and there will also presentations on how to successfully secure funding.

There is no entrance fee, ample parking, and the conference centre at Towcester Racecourse is fully accessible.

Those who wish to attend are encouraged to register before the event to avoid delays on arrival. To register, please email Rob Burton at or call him on 01327 302257.
