The deadline to register to vote in the local elections on Thursday, 4 May is fast approaching after 200,000 polling cards hit doormats across South Northamptonshire and Cherwell.

Next month, electors in both districts will be asked to vote for their county council representative and the deadline for registration is Thursday, 13 April.

Paul Sutton, electoral registration officer for South Northants and Cherwell said: "We've sent polling cards to everyone who we believe is eligible to vote on 4 May, if you haven't received one you may not be registered to vote and only have until Thursday, 13 April to get registered.

"Any resident who hasn't received a poll card should act now."

Residents who have not received a poll card should contact the council Elections Hotline to check if they are registered to vote. Cherwell residents should call 01295 227005, and South Northants residents should call 01327 322128. Alternatively email elections@cherwellandsouthnorthants.gov.uk.

If know you are not registered, you can  register to vote online.

Your poll card provides you with details of where your polling station is located and the hours it will be open on 4 May, but you do not have to present your polling card in order to vote.
