Following the resignation of Cllr Ian Morris there is a vacancy in South Northamptonshire's King’s Sutton Ward and a notice of vacancy has been published today (Wednesday, 15 March).

Cllr Morris, who represented the King's Sutton ward of South Northamptonshire Council (SNC), is also the Northamptonshire County Council Cabinet member for Highways and has stood down due to the increasing level of commitment needed for this role.

Of his resignation Cllr Morris, said: "It has been an honour to represent King's Sutton, but the residents deserve 110 per cent from their local Councillor. With my current commitments to the County Council portfolio I am currently unable to provide this.

"It is with a heavy heart that I leave SNC and I would like to wish the administration all the best. It was a privilege to serve as a Councillor."

Two electors have written to request an election and, if contested, a poll will take place on Thursday, 4 May 2017 to coincide with County Council elections.
