Play Rangers

Please note, the Play on the Move programme came to the end of its funded period in September 2011. Further funding is being sought and the Play Rangers hope to be out and about again very soon!

'Play on the Move' in South Northants!

The South Northants Play Ranger project offers open access play sessions where children between the ages of 5 - 15 can come and play.  Children are encouraged to lead the sessions and choose the kind of activities that they would like to take part in, including a variety of sports, arts and crafts, den building, parachute games and much more!

The Play Rangers work in predominately parks and public spaces.  They operate on an 'open access' principle, meaning that children are free to come and go as they please.  During the darker months Parishes have been kind enough to open their village halls for some warmth and indoor play.

The Play Rangers ensure children are kept safe yet at the same time provide opportunities for them to be challenged, take risks and have fun outdoors come rain or shine.  However we must emphasise, due to the nature of the environment children are responsible for their own actions.  Children who are younger than 8 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult if they wish to join in.
