Disabled Facilities Grant

If you or someone in your household is disabled, you may be eligible for a grant of up to £30,000 to help adapt your home to make life easier. For the adaptation to be considered the work must be considered necessary, appropriate, practical and reasonable.

The grants are given under the Disabled Facilities Grant scheme and are means tested on the person with the disability and their partner if they have one. The means test is not applied if the adaptation is for a child or if the applicant is on certain means tested benefits.

Following an initial financial assessment a request will be made to the Occupational Therapist for an assessment. They will assess your housing needs and may refer you for equipment and/or adaptations to enable you to stay in your current property. They may also advise our Housing Options Team on the type of property that would best meet your future health needs.
