Housing Allocations Policy

The consultation on the Housing Allocations Policy has now ended. The final policy was approved by the Council's Cabinet on 8th October and will be implemented in the New Year.

The Allocations Policy is very important as it sets out how the Council allocates social housing. The policy explains who is eligible for housing, who qualifies to join the Council's Housing Register and how priority need is decided.

The main changes included in the new policy are:

restricting the Housing Register only to applicants who have the greatest housing need
restricting the Housing Register to applicants who have a local connection to the South Northants area, apart from Armed Forces personnel and their families
reducing the number of offers of properties made to an applicant.
