South Northamptonshire Council (SNC) has been encouraging local artists to exhibit their art at the South Northamptonshire Selected Open Exhibition which will be showcased at the Michael Heseltine Gallery from 17 to 30 May 2012.

The gallery is situated at Chenderit School in Middleton Cheney which has proved a popular venue for the event since 2004.  The work on display will include paintings, drawings, sculptures, jewellery, textiles, prints, photographs, ceramics, and embroidery from a variety of artists, many of whom are exhibiting for the first time.

Councillor Rosie Herring, South Northamptonshire Council portfolio holder for community engagement and wellbeing, said:  “This is a fantastic exhibition that provides residents and visitors with the opportunity to view some of the excellent work produced by local artists.

“We are delighted that the council has encouraged 30 new artists to exhibit at the event this year as well as supporting the gallery.  This is a much needed facility for artists, whether they are professional or amateur.”

The exhibition will be open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, and on Sundays 20 and 27 May from 2pm to 5pm, and visitors should report to the main reception at the school. The gallery is not open on Saturdays. Entry to the exhibition is free of charge.

There will be the chance to buy items and these may be collected at the end of the exhibition.
