The Youth Council is offering grants of up to £750 to youth projects, schemes or organisations which benefit young people in the district. In total, the youth councillors are hoping to hand out between £3,000 and £4,000.
Youth councillor Ellie Shardlow was chairman of the South Northamptonshire Youth Council meeting when the grant fund was announced. Ellie said: “The Youth Council is very pleased that this money has become available to help youth projects.
“We’re hoping to improve activities for the youth in the district, help young people’s organisations in South Northamptonshire, and perhaps get some new projects started. We’re looking forward to seeing what this extra money can do, and will welcome any ideas you would like to put forward.”
Councillor Andrew Wilby, South Northamptonshire Council’s portfolio holder for community engagement, said: “Congratulations to the Youth Council on securing this funding. They work really hard for young people in our district and I want to congratulate them.
“The money will be used to develop projects for young people and help them continue to play an important role in our community, as well as providing a way for them to get involved and reach their potential.”
Application forms can be obtained from the Youth Council support officer, Laurie Berruto on laurieberruto@hotmail.com or 07748 808093.
