Get sportivated

Funding available through South Northamptonshire Council from the Lottery and Sports England Sportivate programme could mean a chance for anyone aged between 14 and 25 to try out new sports.

And it’s also an opportunity for sports clubs to boost their membership.

The council is looking to inject Sportivate funding into sports clubs who can open their doors to new and returning participants. To qualify, your club will need to comply to rules on child protection and first aid, and be working towards or have achieved a Level 2 coaching award.

The funding can be spent on facility hire, equipment and promotion. If your club is interested in getting involved in Sportivate, email tom.kittendorf@southnorthants.gov.uk, or phone 01327 322078.

Cllr Rosie Herring, South Northants portfolio holder for community wellbeing, said: "As the Olympics draw closer it's a great time for young people to get involved in sport. If your sport club thinks it could use this funding creatively to attract more members, get in touch with the council and we'll see if we can help."
