David Capel, the former England and Northamptonshire cricketer will open new MUGA in Bugbrooke.

David Capel, the former England and Northamptonshire cricketer, now coach at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club, will formally open the new Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) and youth shelter facilities at Bugbrooke Playing Fields on Friday 15 October at 4pm.

Grant funded by South Northamptonshire Council, The Big Lottery and Northamptonshire Community Foundation, the excellent facilities are the result of a joint project between Bugbrooke Parish Council and Bugbrooke Sports and Community Association, and consist of a robust, all-weather pitch with goals, wickets and basketball hoops, and a youth shelter where local teenagers can meet and socialise.

Rosie Herring, Cabinet Member for Community Wellbeing at South Northamptonshire Council, said: “The MUGA is an extremely popular facility which offers the community free access to a range of sporting activities.  South Northamptonshire Council is delighted to have been able to play a part in its provision and we are confident that it will lead to an increase in sports uptake as there is rarely a time when the facilities are not being used.”

Following the opening ceremony, refreshments of tea and cakes will be available in Bugbrooke Community Centre.
