Youth Council

The Youth CouncilSouth Northamptonshire Youth Council is made up of year 11, 12 and 13 students from the six secondary schools in the district.

The Youth Council was set up in 1998 to give young people a voice in Council matters and to get them involved in local democracy. They have a budget each year which is used to help young people and their communities.

The Youth Council meets six or eight times a year and their views on a variety of issues feed into Council discussions to make sure councillors consider the thoughts of young people in the district. The Youth Council has also been the body responsible for considering and shortlisting applications for funding under the Government’s Youth Opportunities Fund scheme.
