A PigeonReport a problem with Pigeons

If you have a problem with Pigeons and would like help, please contact the Environment Division on the details below to make an appointment for a Pest Control Officer to contact you-

What are they?

These are the pigeons you see sitting on window ledges and feeding on foodstuffs dropped in the street by the public, usually grey with wing bands and a greenish neck although there are many variants.

Make sure you correctly identify them do not get mixed up with wood pigeons that eat the green stuffs in your garden. Wood pigeons have a distinctive white neck and wing markings and are considerably bigger than feral pigeons.

What should I look for?

Lots of droppings and feathers under roosting areas.

Will they harm me?

Yes they should be regarded as potential transmitters of diseases.

They are described by some as rats with wings. Feral pigeons are a nuisance as they can cause damage to buildings with their droppings by causing erosion to old stone buildings, blocking rainwater gutters etc .

Do I need Professional help?

Possibly, it does no harm to ask the experts.
