The restoration of Bury Mount, the 11th century castle motte in Towcester, was praised in a good practice guide published yesterday (31 January) by English Heritage.

‘Valuing Places: Good Practice in Conservation Areas’ highlights conservation areas across England benefiting from the voluntary efforts of local people, working closely with local councils and supported by English Heritage.

Councillor John Townsend, Portfolio Holder for Environmental Policy, said: “We are delighted that Bury Mount has been praised by English Heritage. The area is already well used by residents and visitors to the town, and we are proud to have created an attractive open space for the community to enjoy.”
