The Housing Role

Welcome to South Northamptonshire Council’s Housing webpages. Here you can find information about the various housing related services that we offer.

From 17 March 2008, we no longer provide council homes for people. This will be done by the new housing association, South Northants Homes, who will also be responsible for maintaining the homes.

You should pay your rent to South Northants Homes.

For more information about the transfer of council homes, repairs and maintenance and other tenancy matters, please visit the South Northants Homes website at http://www.southnorthantshomes.co.uk/

South Northants Homes can also be contacted at:

As a Council, we still have strategic responsibility for housing. This means we still deal with homelessness prevention for those who are homeless or potentially homeless, by offering housing advice and assistance. We also manage the housing register( the waiting list for social housing). Advice on a range of issues to landlords and people who are privately renting their own home is also available. We are also involved in producing and delivering the objectives of the housing strategy for South Northamptonshire. Part of this is assessing the housing needs of the District and enabling provision of new affordable housing. We do this in partnership with Parish Councils’, Housing Associations’ (RSLs) and the private sector to provide a stock of houses that meet the needs of our community.

Should you wish to speak to a member of staff regarding homelessness, the housing register or new affordable housing, please contact 01327 322067.
