Local Plan

The local plan is a document that sets out what we plan to do with land in the district and how we will control development. Together with the East Midlands Regional Plan and supplementary planning guidance it guides most of our day-to-day planning decisions. The Local Plan was adopted in 1997. It covered the period 1998-2006. A number of the policies and proposals contained in the Local Plan were ‘saved’ by Government Office in September 2007. Saved policies will remain until replaced by policies in the emerging Local Development Framework.
